You are everything you allow your spirit to guide you toward. Her braids symbolise higher power, the earth, and the soul - the spirit that drives us forward. These girls are the history that makes us who we are today. The paintings from this series are not literal portraits, but they draw from many figures across time, from Joan of Arc to Truganini to mythic beings like Nerissa the mermaid. In my work the girls have no face and no race.
